Announcements

  • The Sanctuary Committee will be ordering two large plants for the altar and the committee is giving you an opportunity to honor loved ones and/or remember those who have been a very meaningful part of your lives in past years. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church to place the names of those special people. Please write out a check in the amount of $15. To help with convenience of ordering, you may call the church office and bring your check as soon as possible. Please make the check to United Church of Christ. Please sign up by March 23. This will be a great addition to our Easter service on April 5!

Joys and Concerns

  • Concerns: The family of Clayton Hanson, the family of Helmer Ike, Jack Heydt (surgery) and Gene Hughes family.
  • Joys: Jack Heydt is going to State Wrestling, successful Fat Tuesday dinner, Search Committee Synod selected the new Search President, John Dorhauer, Kathy and Wayne visiting, celebrating birthday lunch with Steven, Laura and dance line.

Joys and Concerns

  • Concerns: Hazel Carter’s sister, Joyce passed away this week, ice in unknown/unexpected places, all those with colds, respiratory illnesses, and other crud. Also for people who are homeless in our area and throughout Minnesota, and family of Gene Hughes.
  • Joys: Response from the church for helping with meatball dinner, Dick’s grandson (Nolan’s success in Iowa State Swim Meet), YME Dance Line finished third in Jazz and second in high kick at State Dance Line. Laura was member of All Tournament Team.

Joys and Concerns

  • Concerns: Family of Leigh Aus, Scott & Jody Sneller lost their house to a fire, Shelby & Mike Heydt’s nephew, Butch Schulte, and increasing corporate control over our lives.
  • Joys: Wonderful music from Monroe Crossing & Jerry Ostenson, Decorah, Iowa (Swen Tim qualified), several people to State (Including Dick and Sharon’s grandson), both dance lines moved forward and both teams going to State (19 consecutive years).

  • Concerns: Butch Schulte, Spencer Kvam family on death of his mother, Helen Stuland’s family, level of anger and hatred in United States, Jim and Sharon Crowley (daughter Sherry died Monday), safety for Terry (needs to get furnace fixed), and Janelle Kompelien still recovering from illness.
  • Joys: Love and support to Kvam family, YME girls’ basketball team doing well and choir coffee got shared today.

  • Concerns: Travel on the icy roads, Gene Oftedahl family, Nellie Kompelien (now out of the hospital), and people all over the world.
  • Joys: 45 more minutes of daylight since December 21, Annual Meeting (people willing to step up, small but mighty attitude of church members, Katie Kvam keeping up with the Web site, history of Granite Falls and our church, Beyond the Band-Aid Meeting in Monte last Sunday, Julia Kvam (meeting for Conference — Pilgrim Point).

  • Concerns: Karen’s dog (Venus), Joann broke her other leg (surgery #5), Jenny Haas and family (her father died), Spencer’s mother, Peggy Mooney and family (Dad’s death), Sherry’s Mom (Florence fell the Sat. before Christmas and is in Luther Haven recovering), the family of Orin Jordet, and the unrest in the world.
  • Joys: It didn’t snow yet, connections with cousins at Christmas (Helen), and friends visiting.

  • Concerns: Peggy Mooney and family on the death of her Dad, Earl Schultz, family of Jim Rowberg, family of Dorothy Webber and Karen S-D’s joy and concern with dogs getting into fights when spending time with family and Venus cut open her leg.
  • Joys: Family home for Christmas, sunshine and Christmas Eve Service.
