  • Circle of Stones Dec. 12 at 7:00 at Sue Rollins.
  • We have ordered 2 nice large poinsettias from the flower shop for the altar area for Christmas. If you would like to contribute to these bouquets in memory of a loved one or honor a loved one this Christmas, please sign the sheet that will be on the back table at church. A suggested contribution would be 10 to 15 dollars. Thanks. – The Sanctuary Committee

Joys and Concerns

  • Concerns: Andrew Wagner, friends and family of Colleen Frey (who passed away on Saturday), people who are ill and dealing with coughs, people dealing with depression, and dismantling of Fucashema reactor.
  • Joys: Zieskes are here, article in paper regarding Gene’s Photo exhibit, those who helped last Sunday, Thanksgiving Eve Service at St. Andrews (both choir and congregation, and Thanksgiving with family.

  • Concerns: Philippines, clean up Fukishma, Rachelle’s fiancé, ongoing safety for Iraq and Afghanistan, and LaVonne’s sister, Ruth.
  • Joys: Happy Thanksgiving, bright sunshine on a cold day, Jeremy getting to see family this week, thanks to Julia and Laura allowing John to be gone, Rachelle’s Mom is doing well and glad to be back in church and advent preparation.

  • Concerns: Eileen Woklow, Julie’s Mom recovering from surgery, Terry’s cousin Daryl, people of Syria, Saudi Arabian women who chose to drive yesterday (for protection) and pregnant women being targeted by assassins.
  • Joys: Barbershop music last evening and from the performers (thank you), celebration of life for Chuck Waibel, Terri traveled to San Francisco, stories of justice work going on throughout the world, thanks to Bill for directing the choir (Bill is going to Arizona Tuesday), sunshine and good day of harvest.

  • Joys: Lindsey Knapper with us, Dick Fylling’s work group-planning for Conference Annual Meeting, high school football team won, visitors from Walker (Sharon and Ray Olson), marriage of Nicki and Jordan Gaffaney, marriage of Mollie and Matt Nelson (Peg’s niece), Sue’s birthday celebration, thank you Steve for new light downstairs and Rachelle’s Mom doing well and back at work.

  • “Thank you to our dedicated drivers for delivering dinners during the week of September 15 through September 21. This includes Karen Schmidt-Dill, Pearl Lenzen, Joel Beninga, John Butterbrodt, and Darrell and Hazel Carter. Please volunteer during our next week of local mission work during Oct. 27 -Nov. 2. The number of stops are few but mighty important for the recipients. The trusty yellow tablet awaits your signature or give a call. We need to fill 7 days each time we serve throughout the year.” ~ Ruby Hieb
  • Song of the Prairie A Cappella Show Chorus presents “Barbershop on Broadway” on Saturday, October 26, 7:00 pm, at Granite Falls United Church of Christ and on Sunday, October 27, 2:00 pm, at Tracy Lutheran Church.   • Concerns: Javeng’s grandmother broke hip and elbow (pray for speedy recovery), LaVonne’s sister (Ruth) is ill, family of Jackie Smith, family of Ervin Schultz, Syrian people and Terry’s cousin Darrel.
  • Joys: Audrey’s appreciation of prayers and healing, great beginning to the Meander, great Meander weekend (lots of people from all over), Peggy hosted some people from St. Paul Campus, tonight starts Joint Confirmation, Rochelle’s mom is doing well after her accident, Kristy in church today, and Immigration Rally in Minneapolis.

Announcements

  • Circle of Stones is reorganizing. This is a unique chance for women to get together and share with one another. We will meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at Pearl Lenzen’s home. October 8th will be the next time we meet. For more information contact Pearl Lenzen or Karen Schmidt-Dill.
  • Rev. Hilda Parks will be leading the worship service on September 29.
  • Sept. 22 Saron Lutheran Church Chicken Supper at 5:00. Take outs are available.
  • Sept. 22 Hazel Run Lutheran Community Salad Luncheon & Auction, 11:30-1:00
  • Sept. 22 Renville United Methodist Church Ham dinner from 11:00 -1:00. Take outs available. Cost is $10.
  • The NA group that has been meeting in our church sent a thank you letter for the use of the church on Tuesday evenings. They will no longer be meeting here.
  • Please be sure all church doors are locked when you leave.

Joys and Concerns

  • Concerns: Colleen Frey; people displaced by fire in Winona; Monson, Panitzke, and Dikken families; Flooding in Colorado and its consequences; and the people of Syria.
  • Joys: Sue’s last radiation treatment; climate change event; Karen is here (being home with our church family); Hazel’s sister (Joyce and husband, Bill) from Kansas; and rain.
