  • We have ordered 2 nice large poinsettias from the flower shop for the altar area for Christmas. If you would like to contribute to these bouquets in memory of a loved one or honor a loved one this Christmas, please sign the sheet that will be on the back table at church. A suggested contribution would be $10 to $15 dollars. Thanks – The Sanctuary Committee

Joys and Concerns

  • Concerns: Family of Bob Skalbeck, everyone traveling with the sometimes iffy roads, and people of Iraq.
  • Joys: Ali’s recital and the family who came, Rosalene’s Dad (Harris Halstead) turned 99 yesterday and Mae Peterson’s recovery and positive attitude.

  • Concerns: Bob Skalbeck and family (preparing for end of life), Mae Peterson (recovering from fall), Syria, the entire Mideast, and Ebola epidemic.
  • Joys: Mae is a joy and sends her greetings (wonderful spirit), joy of sharing music with the Prairie Arts Chorale Concerts, Wizard of Oz was great, Peggy’s sister is up and walking, attending Ruby’s sister’s church, snow is on the way, and Gaffaneys are new grandparents of baby Quinn (6 lb 2 oz).

Joys and Concerns

  • Concerns: Family of Deb Koerlin (father, Roy Iverson passed away), Rob’s Mom (Dutch, is continuing to recover from her stroke), people suffering from cancer and other diseases and for caregivers and families, soldiers still overseas, election process and our leaders, Peg’s sister (Barb has her surgery this week).
  • Joys: Zieskes are joining us this morning, election will be over Tuesday, Dan Mooney, Margaret and Madelyn are here.

  • The Prairie Arts Chorale of Southwest Minnesota invites you to attend our fall concert, “It Ain’t Over ’til the Prairie Arts Chorale Sings.” Join us at Prinsburg at 7:30 pm on Nov. 8 for a fun and unique look at opera through the ages, from Italian arias to rock choruses.   • Concerns Peggy Kvam’s sister is having back surgery, family of Sarah Schmidt, Jeremy and family dealing with father’s death, people of Japan and Okinawa (flooding and storms).
  • Joys Sue’s birthday, Star Spangled Banner sung by Laura B. and Mariah, two young men helped Ruby unload leaves, Cheri Fjermestad (Section 3 Head Coach of Year for Girls Tennis), UCC successful in its law suit against North Carolina in same-sex marriage issue, Circle of Stones at Sharon’s was good, and Bill’s daughter, Jennifer, was home for three days.

Announcements

  • Bread for the World–Offering of Letters to be taken on October 19.
  • See your bulletin insert about writing a letter to be sent to our congressional representative. For this area it is Collin C. Peterson. You are encouraged to write a letter asking that food needs be recognized around the world as well as in the United States. Bring that letter to worship with you on Sunday morning and we will send them off in a unit along with your financial support.
  • We will be doing the Food Drive on Wednesday, October 22nd. Meet at the St. Andrew Parish Center at 6:30 PM. At that point we will break into teams to pick up around town. The Youth from our Community Churches will be going around town on Wednesday, October 22 to collect non-perishable food or money for our local food shelf. They will start to come around at 6:30 pm. If you are not going to be home and would like to give, please put the items in a bag on your front stairs with the front light on, and we will pick it up. Thank you for all your help.

  • Concerns: Dick Anderson, Jeremy’s folks back home, people with cancer, Sally’s Mom, kids going through divorce, people in early stages of Dementia, the world start responding and helping with Ebola, Lou Ann’s daughter, (Sue) and unrest in the world and the U.S.
  • Joys: Sue’s parents into assisted living, music (Sweet Adelines), Walking Theater Friday night, fall colors, Bob Slettedahl home in Granite, Calvyn and Nikki’s wedding, joy of Pat, Kyle Gaffaney is engaged, YME won, fun of the Meander and foster cat.

  • Concerns: Spencer’s mother is improving, but still in St. Cloud Hospital, Sally Thoma is slowly improving, Bob Slettedahl is still in Springfield and hopes to be at home Oct. 1, Jeremy’s Mom is recuperating from surgery, Hazel’s sister on the death of her son and Hazel’s older sister is starting a new round of Chemo, Dick Anderson, world’s hot spots (prayer for continuance of good things done), and Peggy Kvam’s cousin Kathy is having cancer treatments.
  • Joys: Bryan Mooney and his new career as inspirational speaker, choir (few and far between but will still give it a try), and beautiful weather.

  • Joys: Bryan’s presentation, beautiful rainbow last evening, smiling faces (especially kids), Feed the Kids at St. Paul’s Lutheran, joy of Bryan’s courage and goofiness, Darrell and Ken honored for Community Service MMA.
